Art Is Medicine

Post image for Art Is Medicine

Sometimes I see beauty and art and compare.

My life to theirs.

My art to theirs.

Does mine have value?

But then I remember

producing while valuating

is like

writing while editing.

{which I would never do.}

So instead of comparing

I relegate the art and beauty to where it belongs.

To inspire

To heal

To make better.

Your art makes me want to be better at life.

In the most beautiful, Spirit approved of ways.

Just had to tell you. <3

This makes me smile.

I have been so hungry to create lately. Knitting is starting to get addicting in the way that I have to try a new pattern every time! But it’s fun right now. And this Sunday I’m doing some art-making at Michelle’s for visual prayer, can’t wait.

@Adventures In Babywearing, art making for visual prayer? You speak my language. Pics, I hope?

I’m ravenous too.

@Adventures In Babywearing,
Some of my favorite art I’ve ever made was when I was “Praying in Color”. Have you guys read that book? LOVE. (http://www.prayingincolor.com/)

Ditto…

Sometimes the art (writing or anything else creative) is screaming to be let out. I need to make more time for it so I could do it better.

You are inspiring too!

Jen

@Jen Martinson, yes – it’s also a craft, no? Practice practice practice.

Mine will break loose out of me if I don’t let it out the right way. :)

I’ve decided that this year, I’m going to participate in the whole “homemade Christmas” idea. I’m so excited to put my heart and soul into the gifts I give this year. I’m craftin’ it up, and I’m not quite sure how good they’ll be…but my hands will be creating for the ones I love, and that is good stuff in my book :) Excellent words, and so thankful you wrote them…made me all warm and fuzzy.

My sister is an artist, a very good one. I have always said that she got all the artistic talent in the family, and I got none. (I will claim other talents, but not art.) Then recently someone introduced me to a paper craft (too complicated to explain) that for some reason caught my attention and made me want to try. I am having so much fun! I sent my first picture to my sister. She was so sweet and encouraging. I am having a blast. For a person who spends all her professional life (and too much of her personal life) in her head, doing something with my hands is immensely rewarding.

I love this and where you’re going with this space, little hints here and there, and I love YOU.

You point in the right direction.

I crave the want-to-create. Does that make sense? My soul has just been so tired, I lack the want-to.

Miss you. Road trip to Kansas? No?
