You’re my butterfly

by arianne

This weekend we spent time with a butterfly.

We didn’t catch it, it was just waiting for us.  First Jamie picked it up, so big and yellow and friendly.  They had a moment.

Then Charlie had a turn.  He said it tickled.

It’s amazing how you calm down to hold a butterfly.  Time seems to stand still.

Even Jonah had some time with it. The light and lovely perfect little thing was bigger than his hands.

Then it was simply ready to move on.  And flew away.

These children, doing so well, I can’t believe they’ll fly away someday.  But I’m so glad they can.

You are the most beautiful thing
I’ve ever seen
You shine just like sunlight rays
On a winter snow
I just had to tell you so

Your eyes sparkle as the stars
Like the moon they glow
Your smile could light the world on fire
Or did you know ?

Your mind’s full of everything
That I want to know
I just had to let you know
I just had to tell you so
You’re my butterfly
Fly high
Fly fly fly

I'm not sure why but this post made me cry. That is so beautiful. It's the little things that make us all so happy, isn't it?

Thanks for sharing!

I cannot think of anything more perfect and more beautiful than this. And I can't think of a more perfect time for this beauty to touch your life.

You are trying to kill your readers, right? You told me that you had pretty butterflies over here that would cheer me up but all I see is a post about how my kids are going to grow up and fly away someday far too soon!

You are tricky. But do take gorgeous photos, make beautiful babies, and write so well I'd like to punch you.

I'm a stellar commenter.

My day is not complete unless someone threatens to punch me. This makes 3 times today, therefore today = awesome.

A beautiful post and incredible insight (like why is it that kids can't sit still when you're trying to get them dressed in the morning but even your youngest can stand still for this?!)

Great photos…the boys look absolutely ecstatic about holding that butterfly. And those song lyrics fit the moment just perfectly.
